Home Frequencies: Ẹ Káàbọ̀ - Artist Talk & Improv Jam
Home Frequencies: Ẹ Káàbọ̀ - Artist Talk & Improv Jam
Join us for a special afternoon as part of Melville Contemporary 2025, featuring an intimate Artist Talk and Improv Jam centred on Mohammed Ayo Busari’s new work, Home Frequencies: Ẹ Káàbọ̀.
Home Frequencies: Ẹ Káàbọ̀ is an immersive sonic world weaving echoes of diaspora, memory, and resilience. This explorative and experimental sound art piece draws on Yoruba oral traditions, live music, spoken word, field recordings and contemporary sound design to create a space where ancestral frequencies meet the present moment.
The event begins with an Artist Talk, where Ayo will unpack the creative journey behind Home Frequencies, sharing personal stories, cultural frameworks, and interdisciplinary processes that shape the work.
Following the talk, the space transforms into an Improv Jam Session - an open, collaborative soundscape inviting artists, musicians, poets, and curious participants to join in. Guided by rhythm and intuition, this jam blurs the line between performer and audience, creating a shared sonic experience. Whether you want to play, speak, move, or simply listen, you’re invited to be part of the collective frequencies.
Light snacks and drinks will be available throughout the afternoon. Please RSVP as soon as possible, capacity is very limited.
Presented by The TOOL Event and WWIM in partnership with Mobus Entertainment.
